About
Also known as: Los Amigos Invinsibles, Los Amigos Invisible
Los Amigos Invisibles are the Venezuelan band that made their country's disco, funk, and acid jazz sound like the most irresistible thing in the world. Signed to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label after a strategically planted CD in a New York record store, they built a catalog spanning eleven albums and a reputation for explosive live shows across nearly 60 countries. Their 2000 release Arepa 3000 scored a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album, and their 2009 record Commercial, produced with a knowing wink at their own legacy, hit number one in Venezuela and took home the Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. Repeat After Me in 2013 landed them yet more Latin Grammy recognition, and 2019 brought another win for Best Alternative Song with "Tócamela". They are, by most accounts, Venezuela's most internationally recognized band.
