Ludovico Einaudi has a knack for making piano music that slips past your defenses. The Turin born Italian composer and pianist trained at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, and while his roots are in classical composition, he pulled in minimalism, folk, pop, and world music to carve out a sound that is genuinely his own. That sound has ended up everywhere: the French blockbuster The Intouchables, the horror film Insidious, and more recently the Oscar winning films Nomadland and The Father all carry his fingerprints. His solo catalog is substantial and spans decades, from Le Onde in 1996, an album inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel The Waves, through to I Giorni, Nightbook, and In a Time Lapse. In 2019 he took on one of his most ambitious projects, Seven Days Walking, a seven part series released across seven consecutive months. Pieces like Nuvole Bianche and Experience have become touchstones for fans of modern classical music, and a live recording of Experience at the Steve Jobs Theatre shows he brings the same quiet intensity to the stage.
