About
Luicidal sells itself as "The OGs of Suicidal Tendencies", and the pitch is fair: the band is mostly made up of ex Suicidal Tendencies members. It started when bassist Louiche Mayorga, who said he missed being on stage, teamed up with his old bandmate, drummer R.J. Herrera. They brought in Mando Ochoa on vocals and Ricky Reynaga on guitar, and the Venice, Los Angeles punk band was born in 2012. Live, they play material from the first three Suicidal Tendencies albums. Their self titled debut landed in 2014 on DC Jam Records, with Mayorga aiming for the badass sound of 80s Suicidal music. Guests included Rocky George, Grant Estes, Amery Smith, H.R. of the Bad Brains and Dale Henderson of Beowülf. Reviewers were fans, with one calling it old school Venice Beach punk rock he'd be playing on repeat for a long time. Herrera later left and Vince Sollecito took over the drums. A second album, Born in Venice, followed in 2018 on Cleopatra Records.
