About

Luke Howard is a Melbourne pianist and composer whose music has ended up everywhere from film soundtracks to the Glastonbury Pyramid Stage. He plays in the Luke Howard Trio with bassist Jonathan Zion and drummer Daniel Farrugia, and three of his albums have picked up ARIA nominations. One of them, The Sand That Ate the Sea, is the soundtrack to a film about the opal mining town of Andamooka in South Australia. A big chunk of his work lives in dance. He has written scores with choreographer Juliano Nunes for companies including American Ballet Theatre, The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet, whose performance of his score Interlinked at Glastonbury in 2024 was the company's first appearance at the festival. He also produces, and helped finish Lost at Sea, the album built from piano improvisations by Rob Grant, father of Lana Del Rey, who sings on two tracks. More recently he co produced a covers EP for Tina Arena.
