M.O.N.T (KR)

About

Also known as: MONT, 몬트

M.O.N.T started out as a trio from Ganghwa Island, and the name stands for Member of National Team, a pretty direct way of saying they want to represent K pop. All three members go by pure Korean stage names: leader Narachan, rapper Roda and main vocalist Bitsaeon. After a pre debut single called "Sorry" in 2017 and a run on JTBC's survival show Mix Nine, they officially debuted in January 2019 with the mini album Going Up. A world tour followed, hitting 16 cities across 11 countries. They also made headlines with "Daehan Minguk Mansae", a patriotic single with lyrics the members wrote themselves. They shot its video on the Liancourt Rocks, known as Dokdo in Korea, becoming the first idols to do so, and donated the song's profits to descendants of people who contributed to the nation. A second mini album, Awesome Up!, arrived later with the single "Rock Paper Scissors". Their lineup is also growing through a project called M.O.N.T. Arena, which adds new members and splits into teams with different genres.
