About
Maaike Roelofs is a cellist and vocalist whose work spans chamber music, early music and Jewish traditional repertoire. She plays chamber music with Ensemble Mirac, performs Bach cantatas in Amersfoort and Baarn, and is a member of Novaja Shira, a group led by Shura Lipovsky that focuses on Jewish traditional music. In 2017 she released the album Lienen aan Locht, on which she sings poems written by her father, the Groningen poet and jurist Lerus Roelofs. The poems were set to music by various composers. Alongside her performing career, Roelofs teaches at the music school in Woudenberg.
