About
Maanvlinder writes its metal in Dutch, and that choice sits at the heart of the sound. Melody, heavy riffs and a thick atmosphere all share the stage, with symphonic metal as the main label but plenty more stirred into the pot. The band pulls from melodic death, doom, prog and '90s rock, so the songs can swing from big and sweeping to slow and crushing without losing their thread. It's a Netherlands band doing something a bit different with the genre, and the Dutch lyrics make it feel closer to home than most of the symphonic scene.
