About
Maartje de Lint is a former opera singer who has channelled her classical training into something quite different: using group singing as a tool for wellbeing. She is the founder and artistic director of Zingen in de Zorg, an organisation that brings communal singing to people facing neurological and psychological challenges, including those living with dementia, Parkinson's disease, aphasia, depression or recovering from illness or brain injury. Her sessions bring together around 25 participants and their carers, with the idea that singing together at whatever level a person can manage has real, tangible benefits for vitality and connection. It is a long way from the opera stage, but her background as a trained vocalist clearly shapes how she leads these workshops, where the voice becomes less about performance and more about shared human experience.
