About
Italian rapper Madman, born Pierfrancesco Botrugno, has been a consistent force in the Italian hip hop scene since the mid 2000s. He first caught serious attention through his collaborations with fellow rapper Gemitaiz, including the 2014 album Kepler, which debuted at the top of the Italian album chart and went gold with over 25,000 copies sold. That kind of commercial and critical traction is rare in Italian rap, and it cemented Madman as one of the genre's key figures. He has kept a steady output across solo projects and joint ventures alike. His third studio album Back Home arrived in 2018, featuring the singer Coez on the track Centro. In 2019 he reunited with Gemitaiz for the single Veleno 7, which hit number one on the Top Singles Billboard and broke daily streaming records on Spotify Italy, leading into their joint album Scatola nera. His ongoing MM mixtape series, now in its third volume, shows he has never lost touch with his freestyle roots.
