About
Madsen are a German indie rock band from Priesseck, a corner of Clenze in the Wendland region, and three of the four members are actual brothers who share the surname. Their sound blends punk energy and rock with stretches of quieter, more reflective moments, and they write all their lyrics in German, which has drawn comparisons to fellow German act Tocotronic. Their 2005 self titled debut cracked the German top 25, and their follow up Goodbye Logik shot all the way to number 8. By the mid 2000s they were playing Rock im Park, Rock am Ring, and Hurricane, graduating from local Wendland heroes to genuine festival fixtures. Beyond the music, the band are openly anti fascist and appeared in the DVD project Kein Bock auf Nazis alongside Die Ärzte and Beatsteaks. Their discography has grown steadily over the years, with Hollywood arriving in 2023 and Die Weihnachtsplatte in 2024.
