Trumpet player Maite Hontelé spent nearly a decade living and working in Colombia, where she recorded five albums and shared stages and sessions with Rubén Blades, Oscar D'León, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Alain Pérez. That stretch of work earned her two Latin Grammy nominations and took her to venues across the world. Born in Utrecht, she grew up on the Latin records her father kept at home, and that early love for the genre clearly never let go. Now she leads La Novia, a nine piece international collective she co leads with bassist and composer Adinda Meertins, who herself picked up Grammy recognition through her work with Colombian pop band Monsieur Periné and performed across North and South America and Europe with them. Their self titled album was mixed by producer Fab Dupont, known for his work with Bad Bunny, Snarky Puppy and Lenny Kravitz. The band blends Latin and pop into something rhythmic, emotionally charged and very much built for dancing.
