About
Mal O Maniacs are Margôt Schenk on vocals and guitar, and Loek Schrievers on guitars and slide guitar. Loek has been active since the 1960s, forming bands including Blues Corporation, Larry Rose Band, and Blue Lou and the Headhunters, touring the US with Tsunami, and backing American artists such as Dr. John, Larry Garner, Big Jay McNeely, and Henry Gray. He has also worked as a producer on various projects. The two played together for sixteen years in Palio Paréa, a Greek blues group they co founded, releasing six albums of mostly original material. Their current project draws on blues, pop, country, rock, and Americana. Alongside originals written by Loek, their repertoire includes material from artists like Willy DeVille, Van Morrison, Natalie Merchant, Bob Dylan, the Neville Brothers, JJ Cale, Boz Scaggs, and Ray LaMontagne, all given fresh arrangements. They perform acoustically, and the overall feel is rooted, warm, and unhurried.
