About
Mannen met Baarden is a duo of two bearded musicians from two different generations who bonded over a shared love of roots music. Bart van Asten plays in Tinkers Drinkers Dreamers, and Martijn Kuijten is known from Autumnsun and Op zoek naar Johan, so both already have a track record in the folk scene. Together they work through classics by Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, and they even slip in some Gerard van Maasakkers. Their setup is deliberately homely: guitars, a tablecloth and a little lamp, set up around a long table like it's a living room. That table is the heart of the whole thing. Audience members are invited to bring an instrument, sit down and play along, which has turned a simple two man session into a proper communal sing and play night.
