About
Manu van Kersbergen moves between concert, spoken word and theatre with 'De Herontdekking van de Hemel', a show that pulls together jazz, hip hop, poetry and heavy basslines into something that feels genuinely its own. The perspective is a father trying to explain the world to his children, and from that starting point van Kersbergen works through themes of identity, racism, conflict and connection. Nothing preachy about it: the words land because they feel earned. Live, the performance builds in layers of beats, improvisation and poetry that lift each other up or deliberately rub against each other. The show has appeared at North Sea Jazz Festival, the Nederlands Theater Festival and Theaterfestival België, and received nominations for both the Theo d'Or 2025 and the Annie M.G. Schmidtprijs 2025.
