About
Marcelo Demarco has been a fixture in Uruguay's underground electronic scene since the early 1990s, when Montevideo's rave culture was just finding its feet. Over the years his sound shifted from progressive house toward a harder, distinctly underground techno, and that evolution has kept him relevant long after many of his contemporaries moved on. He also goes by the alias Mark Demark and holds the distinction of being the oldest active techno DJ in Uruguay. On the label side, he founded SexiBeats Records in 2005 before launching Suro Records in 2011, the project that really took off. Suro built a genuine catalogue, putting out music from artists like Alex Arnout, Cosmic Boys and Brisboys alongside Demarco's own productions, and the label has landed in the top techno charts more than once. His tracks have also appeared on Dechapter, Cerebro, 0db Recordings, Gorilla Recordings and Vitamina Records.
