Polish guitarist Marcin Dylla has built a reputation for expressive musicality that moves fluidly across different periods of music history. He studied in Poland, then in Katowice, Switzerland, and Maastricht, and has since established himself as a serious international concert artist. His programme of Spanish and Mexican guitar music draws on composers including Turina, Tárrega, Manén, Sánchez Verdu, Rodrigo, and Manuel Ponce. The repertoire traces the guitar's journey from the regional folk traditions of Spain out into Latin America, where European forms met a warmer, distinctly Latin sensibility. Turina channels his nostalgia for Seville through music written in Paris, Tárrega reaches toward Poland with his Mazurkas, and Ponce bridges old European structures with Mexican colour. It is a programme that treats the guitar as a genuinely international instrument.
