Marie Chaplet

About

Marie Chaplet is a singer who builds her music around the French chanson tradition, where the words come first and the songs borrow their shape from poetry and storytelling. She plays in a stripped back setup of just voice and piano, which keeps the focus squarely on the lyrics. Her sets mix songs from the French chanson repertoire she loves with her own original material. One of the covers she has recorded and released is her take on 'Mais je t'aime'. It's an intimate, old school way of doing things, and she clearly likes it that way.
