Marit Bergman is a Swedish pop artist from Rättvik who built her reputation on lush, orchestral pop with a knack for grand arrangements. Before going solo she played in the 1990s Swedish punk band Candysuck, but it was her 2002 debut album 3.00 A.M. Serenades, produced by Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John and released on her own Sugartoy Recordings label, that got critics talking. RCA/BMG picked it up for a wider release the following year. Her second album Baby Dry Your Eye brought the real breakthrough, earning comparisons to Phil Spector's wall of sound and landing her five Swedish Grammis nominations plus wins for Composer of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. She kept that momentum going with I Think It's a Rainbow in 2006, also produced with Yttling, and The Tear Collector in 2009, which featured guest appearances from Frida Hyvönen, Jens Lekman and Larkin Grimm. She even lent her vocals to Swedish producer Kleerup's self titled album on the track "3AM". In 2011 she added a surprising footnote to her career by winning the SVT competition Maestro, training to conduct a symphony orchestra.
