Mark Sherman is a jazz vibraphonist who also moves fluently between piano, drums, and classical percussion, and that range has put him in rooms most musicians only dream about. He has played under conductors like Leonard Bernstein and Herbert Von Karajan, jammed with Wynton Marsalis at Juilliard, and turned up on soundtracks for The Lion King, Armageddon, and a string of Broadway productions. His song Changes in My Life quietly became a cult phenomenon in Asia, racking up over 220 million YouTube views. As a leader, Sherman runs his own Miles High Records label, where he has put out albums featuring heavyweights like Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, and Kenny Barron. His 2015 release Interplay with NEA Jazz Master Kenny Barron for Chesky Records is a highlight of his catalogue. He teaches at Juilliard and New Jersey City University, and Down Beat named him a Rising Star in Vibes across multiple years.
