About
Matilda Lloyd is a British trumpeter who has made a convincing case that her instrument can match the human voice for expressiveness. Her debut album Casta Diva draws on bel canto repertoire, a bold move that positions the trumpet in territory usually reserved for opera singers. She has performed alongside the Italian baroque ensemble Concerto de' Cavalieri, exploring works by composers including Bach, Handel and Neruda, and showing how naturally the trumpet sits within the baroque tradition.
