About
Matt Black is one half of Coldcut, the groundbreaking British DJ duo he formed with Jonathan More, and a co founder of Ninja Tune, one of the most influential independent record labels to come out of the UK. Beyond the decks, he has pushed into visual performance territory as a co inventor of VJamm software and the granular video synthesizer Granul8, both central to Coldcut's live shows. He is a founding member of the VJ collective Hex and continues to perform with The VJamm Allstars. He has also been involved in the Savage Utopia project alongside Crass Agenda. Early on, his band The Jazz Insects caught the ear of John Peel, who gave their debut single airplay on his legendary radio show.
