About
Also known as: Melanie Hall aka Syren
Melanie Fiona built her reputation the hard way, going from a Toronto girl group to earning two Grammy Awards in the same night. Before going solo, she was part of the Canadian R&B trio X Quisite, which scored a Juno nomination, and she also briefly teamed up with Drake in a duo called the Renaissance. Her 2009 debut album The Bridge introduced her to wide audiences through "It Kills Me", a song that sat at the top of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart for ten weeks and landed her a Grammy nomination. Her second album The MF Life peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200, and her collaboration with CeeLo Green on "Fool for You" won Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song at the Grammys. She has also co written for Rihanna and Kardinal Offishall, showing she is as comfortable behind the scenes as she is out front.
