Mgła, which translates as "Fog" in Polish, are a black metal duo from Kraków whose raw, atmospheric sound has earned them a reputation as one of the most compelling acts in the genre. M. (Mikołaj Żentara) handles vocals, guitar and bass, while Darkside (Maciej Kowalski) sits behind the kit. Though the project started back in 2000, Mgła only began playing live in 2012, and their live lineup always features additional touring musicians who reportedly rehearsed for over a year before their first show. Their 2015 album Exercises in Futility marked a turning point, landing them their first North American tour and cementing their status internationally. The follow up Age of Excuse arrived in 2019, released on No Solace, the label M. and Darkside founded themselves. After an intense stretch of 80 shows across 30 countries in 2022, the band stepped back from touring to focus on new studio work. In 2025 they released a previously unheard track from the Exercises in Futility sessions, "World Without Us", with guitars and drums from 2015 and freshly recorded bass and vocals.
