Machine Gun Kelly, now going by MGK, built his name in hip hop before pulling off one of the more surprising pivots in recent memory. His early work, like the triple platinum single "Wild Boy" and the Billboard Hot 100 top five hit "Bad Things" with Camila Cabello, established him as a sharp, commercially savvy rapper. Then came "Tickets to My Downfall" in 2020, a full pop punk album produced entirely by Travis Barker that hit number one on the Billboard 200, the only rock album to do so that year. The follow up, "Mainstream Sellout" in 2022, kept the momentum going commercially even as critics stayed divided. His catalog spans rap rock, pop rap, and now pop punk, with each project pushing somewhere new. He also turned up on screen in "The Dirt", playing Tommy Lee in the Mötley Crüe biopic, and co directed the stoner comedy "Good Mourning" in 2022. Most recently he linked up with Trippie Redd for the collaborative EP "Genre: Sadboy" and ventured into pop rock territory with "Lost Americana" in 2025.
