About
Micha Molthoff is a violinist whose career spans a remarkable range of styles, from classical repertoire and French chansons to Argentinian tango and gypsy music. His solo programme A Violin Affair brings together sweeping themes from The Godfather, virtuosic gypsy passages, and works by Bach, Jacques Brel, Barbara and Astor Piazzolla. His view is that whenever a violinist is called to perform, something romantic, emotional or mysterious tends to follow, and the instrument does seem to cut across every genre it touches. He has performed alongside the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Herman van Veen, Toon Hermans, Orkater, Ute Lemper and Jaap van Zweden. His playing has also featured in films, documentaries and theatre productions.
