Michael Giacchino has scored some of the most recognizable films of the past two decades, from Up and The Batman to Rogue One and multiple entries in the Jurassic World, Star Trek, and Marvel Cinematic Universe franchises. His work with directors like J. J. Abrams, Brad Bird, and Pete Docter gave him a reputation for orchestral scores that feel genuinely emotional rather than just functional, and his Lost soundtrack even used spare pieces of a plane fuselage as percussion instruments. Before film and television took over, Giacchino cut his teeth composing for video games, including the Medal of Honor series and the original Call of Duty. That game work is actually what got Abrams's attention and landed him the Alias gig. He has since picked up an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a Primetime Emmy, and three Grammys along the way. In 2022 he stepped behind the camera to direct the Marvel Studios special Werewolf by Night, for which he also wrote the score.
