About
Michael Kiwanuka has a rare gift for making soul music feel both timeless and deeply personal. The London born singer and songwriter built his reputation on richly textured records drawing on influences from Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye to Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. His debut Home Again went gold in the UK, but it was 2016's Love & Hate, produced by Danger Mouse, that really announced him as a major talent. That album hit number one in the UK, and its track Cold Little Heart became known worldwide as the haunting theme to HBO's Big Little Lies. His self titled third album Kiwanuka landed in 2019 with both Danger Mouse and producer Inflo behind the desk, and went on to win the Mercury Prize in 2020. The album name was a deliberate statement about self acceptance. In late 2024 he returned with his fourth album Small Changes, preceded by the single Floating Parade, his first new music in three years.
