About
Michelle Sweegers plays the harp like almost nobody else does. She performs with an electric, flame painted instrument and leads Harp on Fire, a show where she is joined by drums, violin, cello and synthesizer to blur the lines between classical music, rock, metal and cinematic soundscapes. Her repertoire pulls from a wide range of sources, weaving together music by Iron Maiden, Metallica, Hans Zimmer and Ludovico Einaudi alongside her own compositions. She built a following in the Netherlands partly through her appearance as a soloist in MAESTRO, where her sensitive interplay with Jamai Loman left a strong impression on audiences. Since then she has performed both at home and abroad, collaborated with leading orchestras and shown up regularly on radio and television. Once described as the angel behind the harp, she has clearly traded the halo for something with a lot more voltage.
