About
Mimosa Pudica is an Amsterdam based chamber music trio threading the line between composition, improvisation and stillness. The three members are saxophonist, composer and multi instrumentalist Hristo Goleminov, guitarist and producer Dario Trapani, and bassist and composer Ton Felices. What makes their process distinctive is the near absence of planning: pieces are conceived and captured in a single take, which gives the music a raw, concentrated quality. Sparse melodic fragments surface slowly, the sound shifting between fragile near silence and restless abstraction, always with a sharp ear for detail. Each member brings a broad palette. Goleminov released the album Ground Wire following a residency at the BIMHUIS. Trapani has worked across genres and collaborated with artists including Crookers and Biggi from Sigur Rós. Felices moves freely between musical worlds and appeared at the opening concert of the PULS programme by Kika Sprangers. Fans of The Necks, Jakob Bro, Arve Henriksen or the ECM sound will find a lot to sit with here.
