Swedish jazz vocalist Miriam Aida has built a reputation that stretches well beyond Scandinavia, performing at venues like the Blue Note in Tokyo and across Europe. Based in Lund, she works closely with her partner Fredrik Kronkvist, an alto saxophonist and flautist, and their collaboration has been a consistent thread through her recorded output. Her sound draws on a wide range of musical traditions, with Latin American music and bossa nova playing a particularly strong role. Her discography spans several albums on labels including Sittel and Connective Records, from the Jan Lundgren Trio Presents release in 2002 through to E De Lei in 2014. A live album recorded with the Monday Night Big Band shows her comfort in larger ensemble settings, and albums like Meu Brasil and Letros ao Brasil reflect her deep connection to Brazilian music. She is a well regarded figure in Swedish jazz, and her reach goes considerably further than her home country.
