Miss May I hit the ground running when their debut album Apologies Are for the Weak cracked the Billboard 200 while the band members were still in high school, a pretty wild way to announce yourself. The Troy, Ohio metalcore outfit blends heavy riffing with melodic hooks, and they built a serious touring reputation early on, sharing stages with Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and August Burns Red. Their song "Forgive and Forget" landed on the Saw VI soundtrack, and "Apologies Are for the Weak" got placed in Saints Row: The Third, which says something about how well their sound fits a certain kind of cinematic aggression. Over seven studio albums they have kept pushing the metalcore template without straying too far from what made them worth paying attention to. Deathless and Curse of Existence both showed a band that knew its strengths. In 2024 they went through a significant lineup shift when both guitarists departed, and they signed with Solid State Records. They also put out a full re recording of their debut to mark its 15th anniversary, with the reworked "Forgive and Forget" featuring members of Fit for a King.
