About
MKO takes its name from the initials of its three members: bassist Gerry McAvoy, drummer Brendan O'Neill, and guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Davy Knowles. McAvoy and O'Neill are veterans of Rory Gallagher's legendary band, while Knowles brings a background in both solo work and Band Of Friends. Together they recorded a self titled debut album of eight original songs written by Knowles, mixing hard driving blues rock with classically rooted songwriting. The record drew strong notices from the international blues rock press. Live, the trio leans into the raw, loose energy that made both Band Of Friends and Knowles's solo shows popular with audiences around the world. Craft, experience and a genuine love of playing are what hold the whole thing together.
