About
Berlin's Moderat brought together Sascha Ring, who records as Apparat, and the two halves of Modeselektor, Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, to create something neither act could pull off alone. Their sound sits at a crossroads of electronic, IDM, glitch and house, with a knack for writing tracks that feel both cerebral and genuinely catchy. Their self titled debut got strong praise from outlets like URB, which gave it five out of five. By 2009, Resident Advisor readers had voted them the number one live act of the year. Later work like the animated "Bad Kingdom" from their second album II and the moody third album III cemented their reputation. After a hiatus that began in 2017, the group returned with More D4ta in May 2022, showing they had lost none of their edge.
