About
Also known as: Montel Jordan, Montell Du'Sean Barnett Jordan, Montell Jordan -, Montell Jordon
Few R&B singles from the nineties hit as hard as "This Is How We Do It", the 1995 debut that put Montell Jordan on the map. It sampled Slick Rick's "Children's Story", shot to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and stayed there for seven consecutive weeks, pushing his debut album past a million copies sold. Jordan was more than a one hit wonder though: he co wrote and produced Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", Sisqó's number one "Incomplete", and material for artists like Christina Milian and 98 Degrees. His own catalogue also includes the slow jam "Get It On Tonite", which peaked at number four, and the Master P collaboration "Let's Ride". After leaving Def Jam's Def Soul imprint in 2003, he moved through Koch Records and Fontana before releasing The Masterpiece in late 2019, his first R&B album in over a decade.
