Moodring hit the ground running with their debut album Stargazer, an alternative metal record that pulls from a deep pool of influences, including clear nods to Deftones and Glassjaw, while still carving out something distinctly their own. The album's cover art features a golden snake moving through rose petals, a nod to vocalist Hunter Young's pet spider ball python, whose neurological condition causes a behaviour called stargazing, which gave the record its name. Tracks like "N.I.K.E." take sharp thematic swings, referencing Korn's A.D.I.D.A.S. while telling a story about two pastors wrestling with forbidden desire. Many songs also weave in electronica elements alongside the heavier guitar work, keeping the sound restless and layered throughout.
