About
Moonchild are the kind of band that makes jazz heads and R&B lovers feel equally at home. The Los Angeles trio of Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, and Max Bryk met while on tour and built their sound around a shared background in jazz studies at USC, weaving together jazz, R&B, and electronic textures into something warm and quietly addictive. Their debut Be Free caught the ear of Stevie Wonder, who liked it enough to invite them to open his annual House Full of Toys benefit concert. They have steadily grown from there. Voyager landed on Bandcamp's Top 100 Albums of 2017, Little Ghost climbed to No. 6 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, and their NPR Tiny Desk session showed off a stripped down side that won over a whole new audience. Their fifth album Starfruit picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album in 2023, a solid marker of just how far this trio has come.
