Morbid Saint have been terrorizing eardrums since 1984, when they formed in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and carved out a sound that would go on to influence blackened thrash and death metal for decades. Their debut, Spectrum of Death, started life as a demo called Lock Up Your Children in 1988 before a Mexican label reissued it as a full length album. It became a cult touchstone for extreme metal fans worldwide, even though it took years to reach most territories. After splitting in 1994, they sat on an unreleased second album for over two decades. That record, Destruction System, finally got an official release in 2015, more than twenty years after it was recorded. The band had reunited in 2010 and spent the following years playing festivals across the US, Mexico and Europe. Their third album, Swallowed by Hell, arrived in early 2024, proving they have lost none of their ferocity.
