About
Morningsiders are a New York folk pop trio built around Magnus Ferguson on vocals and guitar, Reid Jenkins on fiddle and vocals, and Robert Frech on piano. The three met at Columbia University and spent their early years as a loose Americana collective with rotating members and freewheeling performances before tightening into the guitar, fiddle and piano format they use today. Their song "Empress" put them on the map nationally when it topped Spotify's Viral 50 in 2015 and landed in a Starbucks commercial featuring Oprah Winfrey. They spent 2018 and 2019 releasing one song a month, eventually gathering that material into their debut LP A Little Lift. The 2020 follow up Pollen pushed further into folk rock territory. Their Easy Does It EP, produced by Peter Katis, was written primarily by Ferguson and arranged by Jenkins with input from Frech.
