About
Mortal Sin are one of the defining acts to come out of Sydney's underground thrash metal scene, sharing that throne with Slaughter Lord back in the mid 1980s. They hit hard out of the gate: their debut album, Mayhemic Destruction, was recorded in just three days in 1986, self financed and self produced, and ended up being picked up by Vertigo Records for worldwide distribution. UK magazine Metal Forces called it one of the best of its genre ever released, and the tag "minor thrash classic" has stuck ever since. Their second album, Face of Despair, was recorded with US producer Randy Burns, known for his work with Kreator, Dark Angel and Megadeth, and came out after the band had spent time supporting Metallica on their Damaged Justice Australian tour. A third record, Every Dog Has Its Day, pulled back toward traditional metal territory. The band went through multiple splits and reunions across the years, with members going on to varied paths, from comedy to sound engineering to pop rock. After a thirteen year break, Mortal Sin announced a third reunion in 2025.
