About
Moya Brennan spent over five decades as the voice of Clannad, the Irish group she helped shape from 1970 onward, recording 17 albums with them and picking up a Grammy, a BAFTA and an Ivor Novello award along the way. Her sister Eithne, better known as Enya, passed through the group briefly before carving out her own path, which gives you some sense of the musical household these two came from. Brennan's solo work leaned into new age and Celtic sounds, though she was always quick to point out that much of her music was rooted in Christian faith rather than ambient mood music. Her 1999 collaboration with dance producer Chicane on "Saltwater" brought her to a much wider audience, hitting the top ten in several countries and going Gold in the UK. She also co wrote the title theme for the film King Arthur with Hans Zimmer and contributed vocals to the Titanic and To End All Wars soundtracks.
