Música Temprana is a Dutch baroque ensemble led by Adrián Rodríguez van der Spoel, whose personal taste shapes the group's distinctly unconventional repertoire. The focus lands squarely on Spanish and Latin American music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, a niche that sets them apart from most early music groups. One of their signature programmes is a performance of Ariel Ramirez's Misa Criolla, a 1964 work by the Argentine composer that weaves together Catholic mass movements like the Kyrie and Sanctus with lively Latin American folk rhythms and popular melodies. The ensemble treats the piece as a natural fit for baroque performance practice, finding the thread that connects old European tradition to South American folk music. Festive Mexican Christmas songs have also featured in their concerts alongside the mass.
