About
Also known as: Muster Plug
Mustard Plug have been flying the ska punk flag out of Grand Rapids since 1991, back when the city had basically no ska scene to speak of. That turned out to be a blessing, because it let them build their own sound and pull in a big local following without anyone telling them how it was supposed to go. Their band name came from the crusty gunk that forms on a mustard bottle left in the fridge, which tells you plenty about the sense of humour. They've put out a run of albums through Hopeless Records, including Evildoers Beware!, Pray for Mojo and Yellow #5, and funded 2014's Can't Contain It through Kickstarter, with cover art by Jeff Rosenstock. After a nine year gap between studio albums, they came back in 2023 with Where Did All My Friends Go? on Bad Time Records. They've played the Warped Tour twice and toured across the US, Europe, Japan and South America. As trombonist Jim Hofer puts it, they mostly just want people to lighten up and have fun.
