Najib Amhali is one of the Netherlands' most recognisable comedians, a Moroccan Dutch performer whose sharp, physical style won both the audience and jury prizes at the prestigious Leids Cabaret Festival back in 1998. That double win announced him as a genuine force in Dutch cabaret, and he has barely stopped since. His solo shows have filled theatres across the country for decades, running from Vol = vol in the late nineties all the way through to his current touring show celebrating 30 years on stage. He also earned the nickname De Marokkaan uit de Jordaan along the way. Beyond stand up, Amhali has built a serious acting career, appearing in films like Shouf Shouf Habibi! and Spion van Oranje, lending his voice to the Dutch versions of the Sonic the Hedgehog films, and turning up on television in everything from The Masked Singer to Wie van de Drie. In 2017 he and Jandino Asporaat became the first comedians in the Netherlands to perform in a football stadium, filling De Kuip in Rotterdam.
