NAKS Kaseko Loco has spent three decades navigating challenges, chalking up successes, and pushing the boundaries of kaseko and kawina music. The band bridges Surinamese and Dutch culture through these traditions, bringing them to audiences well beyond the Surinamese diaspora. Their growth over the years was partly supported by the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, which contributed donations of musical instruments at a key point in the band's development. Their live shows weave together music, personal stories, and historical imagery to trace the band's own journey alongside the broader story of Surinamese musical culture in the Netherlands. Kaseko, a genre rooted in Suriname that blends African rhythms with Caribbean and Latin influences, sits at the heart of what they do, and NAKS Kaseko Loco has become one of its most recognisable standard bearers in the Dutch music scene.
