About
Nana Grizol brings a big, warm, slightly chaotic energy to indie folk, built around a rotating cast of musicians from the fertile Athens, Georgia scene. Frontman Theo Hilton, also known from Defiance, Ohio, anchors the band, but the lineup has always been a collaborative sprawl, pulling in members connected to acts like Neutral Milk Hotel, Elf Power, and The Music Tapes. That community spirit bleeds into the music itself. Their debut Love It Love It arrived in 2008 and set the template: dense arrangements, brass, clarinet, and a kind of scrappy, joyful earnestness. They followed with Ruth and then Ursa Minor in 2017, with a compilation of early recordings called Theo Zumm rounding out 2019. South Somewhere Else came out in 2020, and the EP Dancing Dogs dropped in late 2022, showing the band still very much at it after nearly two decades.
