About
Nanoek is a Dutch theatre company with a sharp, unpolished approach to musical theatre. They lean into raw, contemporary storytelling and tend to surround their productions with extra programming that digs deeper into the themes and the genre itself, going well beyond simply putting on a show. Their production of Next to Normal, the Broadway hit that won three Tony Awards in 2009 and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2010, features a new Dutch translation by Judith Boesen and is driven by a live four piece band delivering the show's dense pop rock score. Director Anouk Beugels, known for the multi award winning MELK, een motherfokking musical, brings the same direct, imaginative sensibility to the material. The result is theatre that tries to make you feel everything, not just follow a story.
