About
Nationale Koren functions as something like a national academy for young singers, taking on vocal talent between the ages of 6 and 29. The organisation scouts, coaches and trains its members, describing its own mission as being the Jong Oranje of classical singing. It is made up of four ensembles: the Nationaal Kinderkoor, the Nationaal Jongenskoor, the Nationaal Vrouwen Jeugdkoor and the Nationaal Gemengd Jeugdkoor. Artistic directors Irene Verburg and László Norbert Nemes conduct and coach across all four groups. Their repertoire spans a wide range, from medieval songs and choral works by composers such as Britten and Poulenc through to more familiar fare like Jingle Bell Rock and White Christmas. Nationale Koren previously served as ensemble in residence at TivoliVredenburg during the 2021 to 2022 season.
