The Nederlandse Fluit Academie brings together young musicians under the banner of the Neflac Ensemble, a flute focused group that draws on the full flute family to show just how much range the instrument actually has. Their programmes mix folk music with composed works, including pieces by Debussy, Clarke, and Dutch flautist and composer Wil Offermans, whose adventurous writing suits the ensemble well. Tight ensemble playing and a genuine enthusiasm for the instrument are what set them apart, turning what could be a niche concert format into something that tends to surprise audiences expecting something more predictable.
