About
Nicholas Milton is an Australian conductor and violinist whose career spans orchestras across two continents. Born in Sydney, he built his reputation leading some serious ensembles, serving as chief conductor of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the State Theatre of Saarland in Germany, among others. Since 2018 he has been artistic director and chief conductor of the Göttinger Symphonieorchester. Before stepping up to the podium full time, he was concertmaster of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, so he knows the stage from both ends. A Grammy nomination came his way for conducting a recording of piano concertos by Grieg and Moszkowski with pianist Joseph Moog, which gives a good sense of the repertoire he gravitates toward.
