Few Dutch DJs have had a trajectory quite like Nicky Romero. Born Nick Rotteveel in Amerongen, he built his reputation through sharp remixes for the likes of David Guetta and Dirty South before his 2012 track "Toulouse" became a Beatport fixture and put him firmly on the global radar. That same year, MTV flagged him as an EDM artist to watch, and he landed one of the highest new entries in DJ Mag's Top 100, a spot he shared with Skrillex. His collaboration with Avicii, "I Could Be the One", debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart in early 2013, a first for both artists in that market. He also co produced tracks for Rihanna, Britney Spears and David Guetta, showing a range that goes well beyond the DJ booth. He runs his own label, Protocol Recordings, and hosts the long running weekly radio show Protocol Radio. Recent uploads suggest he is still very much active, including a live set at Tomorrowland 2026 and fresh music with FORS.
